My readers send me the best stuff. From the comments:
i want to share that in 2002 I saw Mark Kirk debate Hank Perrit Jr. live at the Waukegan yacht club and he told Mr. Perrit, "You don't support the war because you don't have the security to know about the photographs of the Weapons of Mass Destruction that I know about." I have written him several times asking him if that was a bold faced lie, or if he was dooped too. I haven't gotten a response, i will keep you guys up to date.
As it turns out, we didn't need the security because we had common sense. I would guess that Mark Kirk was not duped because he probably did not even care whether or not there were WMD in Iraq. It was the company line and he was willing to spread it for the sake of his career.
The questions that I have are, as a veteran and Naval Intelligence Officer, why is he not offended by the cavalier use of faulty intelligence and empty bravado to bring the country to war, and if he was re-elected, how would he work to prevent the same thing from happening all over again. Seems to me he's already proven that he will not work to prevent the same thing from happening all over again because he is working to have the same thing happen all over again because he thinks (Rove tells him so) that it will get him re-elected.
The questions I have for the good people of the Illinois Tenth are: Are you willing to let Iraq happen over and over and over again? Is this protecting you and your family? Is this the best thing for the future of your children? Do you think our 230+ year old form of government should change to accomodate the ideas of the Bush administration?

I think George Tennant got a Pres Medal of Honor because of the IRAQ invasion too. That whole "slam dunk" comment. Mark Kirk was CIA under Tennant. That is a real arrogant thing for Kirk to say. That is the perfect line to put in a TV Commercial in big bold letters. "You don't have the intelligence I have" Mark Kirk. What is funnier is that he helped the intelligence at the Pentagon.
Here is the latest regarding the debates from the Winnetka Talk:
From the Winnetka Talk Online:
Dan Seals seeks six debates vs. Mark Kirk
BY JOHN ROSZKOWSKI | STAFF WRITER
roszkowski@pioneerlocal.com
Democratic congressional candidate Dan Seals has requested a series of six debates with incumbent U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk, R-10th, before the Nov. 7 general election.
Kirk, of Highland Park, did not respond specifically to Seals' call for debates but a spokesman said the congressman has tentatively agreed to two dates for debates.
"Given the congressional calendar, the congressman has already agreed to discuss the issues on Oct. 26 and Oct. 31," said a statement released by Kirk's office.
Seals suggested in a letter to Kirk that six debates would give the voters the opportunity to hear the candidates' views on the issues so the voters could make informed decisions.
"It is absolutely essential for the voters to hear our contrasting visions for America," Seals said. "Only after weighing our positions and how we plan to address some of the critical issues of our day -- such as escalating health care costs, the war in Iraq and escalating energy prices -- can voters make a thoughtful choice in the November election."
Seals said he requested six debates so that voters in different geographic areas of the district would have the opportunity to hear the candidates.
"We've got 12 townships in this district," he said. "I don't think people should have to drive an hour to get to a debate. Twelve debates might be a lot but six seems more than reasonable to me. The idea is to have debates well placed throughout the district and that are accessible to the vast majority of people."

Mark Kirk must have been pretty useless in the CIA.... I looked on his own site and found only 28 sponsored bills he has written in 6 YEARS! Plus there is a significant amount of bills with no cosponsors about china (the kind you eat on)? Who cares? I asked a neighbor/campaign supporter of Mark Kirk over the weekend (one of the lucky ones who received a sign) about IRAQ and how he thought it was going. A pale expression followed. He didn't know how to answer. My neighbor thinks Bush has sold everybody out too. I think he is actually comtemplating the issues again & not blindly following Mark Kirk into a hole. I gave a bunch of Seals campaign information from the internet to him the next day and he was very impressed. I think once he found out that Kirk voted for IRAQ without regret that really did it. I've converted a Kirk supporter!!!and it will was easy! Just the facts!!! It didn't hurt that Seals father was Chicago Bear either!! icing on the cake. Go Bears!!!! This is the year!!
LTE in 8/17/06 Pioneer Press...This may anger you as it did me, and hopefully you too will write to Pioneer Press to correct this poor misguided Deerfield resident (or maybe it's some poor staffer from Kirk's office)...
Kirk in center of Congress
Every year, the National Journal, Washington's leading non-partisan publication, rates all members of Congress by liberal and conservative voting records. For 2005, National Journal rated Congressman Mark Kirk 52 percent liberal and 48 percent conservative -- nearly the exact center of the U.S. House.
Let's make some comparisons. Tom DeLay was rated 87 percent conservative and 13 percent liberal -- nearly the far extreme right. Jan Schakowsky was rated 98 percent liberal and 2 percent conservative. This score tied her for the most extreme left-wing voting record.
This doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out. Congressman Kirk's voting record lives up to his "thoughtful, independent" motto. His opponent is campaigning with Rep. Schakowsky and was her choice in the Democratic primary.
So the choice in Congress is the center of the House in Congressman Krik versus a far-left extremist in his opponent? Sounds like an easy choice to me. Congressman Mark Kirk has my vote.

Actually, this is good news. Kirk's people are writing this stuff for the Pioneer Press so they can put on their website. This race is Seals to lose that is why they are doing it. Except for Kenilworth, the suburbs all are majority democratic. They voted this way in he past elections. The key here is turnout, which this year I don't think will be a problem but evidently they do. Kirk is behind right now. A good percentage of his base is leaving him, actually they left. This is what you do to play catch up. Notice, Kirk is starting to mention Dan Seals. An incumbant that won by a landslide last time usually does not. Because he is struggling, he will be looking to destroy Dan's character. This will be difficult (one reason, b/c Dan has a wife and family and Kirk does not- which is odd). This will only motivate the democrats in the district and that is why they are writing the letter from the democratic perpective.
Let's not lose our focus -- we need to remind like a drumbeat that Kirk declared he had "special information" on why we HAD to invade Iraq. He has never backed away from that stance. It is ridiculous now -- and it was even laughable then.
In fact, things could not be worse for America in Iraq. Never mind the gigantic loss of life that has occurred already -- the future is the significance of another radical, shiite Islamic power immersed in civil war destabilizing the region. It is hell as imagined only by those looking for the end of our world.
Kirk created it, urged it along and is mute to correct the problems of war profiteering and "stay the course" rigidity which have taken a folly and turned it into a catastrophe.
Seals and the Democrats are our only hope to get some management in Iraq and some hope of creating order in the chaos that the Republicans have made.
I think we all know the special information Mark had. Rove told him that if he said that Iraq had WMD, he'd be able to use that to win elections.
Indeed Kirk may be losing ground & support, but we cannot be complacent. We need to set the record straight -- by writing LTEs, by talking to people, by providing the facts. Let's call Kirk out on his lies in public.
BTW, regarding the Tenth District Update that Kirk sent some people, but not others -- I'm sorry to keep coming back to that, but I really think this is illegal. I'll contact WGN as someone mentioned in a previous comment, and I'm still waiting to talk to Lisa Madigan's office (and will try again on Monday). Please speak out if you did not receive one of the updates.
I'd also appreciate any legal advice on this from those who know law (hint, hint...).

Once at a meeting with peace activists Kirk said that George Tenet showed him secret photos and videos of UAVs that contained maps of US regions but that the info was false. (Such maps are all over the Net of course, eg, Mapquest).
The WMD argument was never compelling for me. If Saddam didn't have it, he could buy it. He had plenty of cash.
Bush's AEI speech is where her first laid out the radical univesal Democracy plan. It was that recognition that only a moderate Islam could defeat radical Islam that convinced me of the war.
The lesson we've learned from Hezballah's war on Israel is terrorists and rouge states really to work closely together.
It's only a matter of time before they buy a nuke from Korea and use it.
I believe Israel exists now on borrowed time.
We as Americans should also work together.
