Big crowd. Food. Music. Great Time. You know me. If there's food, I'm there. My pic? The chocolate brownies, of course. I had two in lieu of dinner.

Look to the left and spot the Goodmans.
Aaron Freeman kicked off the celebration. Aaron reminded us of all the terrible things that were going to happen if John Kerry won the 2004 presidential election. Since things are pretty terrible, Kerry must have won.
It was great seeing some old friends and meeting some new ones.
Ross and Marcia, two dedicated volunteers.
Saw candidates Sharon Narrod running for Lake County Clerk and Debra Shore running for Metropolitan Water Reclamation District in Cook. Look back for my soon to be interview with Debra Shore who is going to tell me all about the Water Reclaimation District. I've always been like the Diane Keaton character in Baby Boom.... "I just want it to come out of the faucet. I don't want to know where it comes from." In my heart I know it is important where it comes from so, hopefully, Shore will let me know how all that works.
Lauren Beth Gash of Tenth Dems and Moraine Township Dems and Mike from the Peter Gutzmer campaign. Peter is running for State Senate in the 27th district.
Jim Gagne and Del Parra (right)running for Lake County Board in Libertyville. Del was telling Jim and I about his campaign. Del is really catching on in his district and well he should as he's spent most of his live working for the betterment of humanity.
Peter Gutzmer. He got some great news last week. He's being endorsed by the republican mayor of Palatine Mayor Rita Mullins. More about that later.
Last, but not at all least, our Dan Seals wowing the crowd with his better ideas on the economy, immigration and foreign policy!
This is a guy with a vision.

Given the number of different campaigns in attendance and the high publicity on Democratic websites around Chicago, I'm not all that impressed with this turnout at a free event on a Sunday after a parade in which volunteers are already assembled.
Rumor at the station is that police showed up at the event. Can anyone explain why?
I was at the event from 2:30 until 5:30pm and didn't see one policeman. This "rumor" is just that-a rumor. If any police were there, they would have been welcome to join us.
The rally was a terrific event with lots of wonderful, enthusiastic people united in a great cause--bringing a much-needed change to Congress.
Dan Seals was in excellent form, as usual, and the music was cookin'.
A great time, indeed.
Don't think I will lose sleep over an "anonymous" who is "not impressed".
Did Mark Kirk have a similar open, energetic celebration in public?
Or are those events only behind closed doors for selected people in the district who would never ask the current congressman the hard questions about his abyssmal voting record?
It's the Kirk campaign way to start a false smear comment is with "Rumor...". Well, I was there the entire time and there were no police whatsoever and no need for them. There was a terrific crowd on a holiday weekend with a lot of folks out of town. Everyone was peaceful, happy and having a great time. Sorry Kirk campaign staff blogger. Your rumor and smear is just not going to get any traction here.
Nice photo of lucky mom on there. Looks like she put on some weight though.
Well, lookie here, Ellen's got a picture of me in her blog! (I'm the guy standing left of center in the 6th pic down, the one before the Aaron Freeman pic) So, needless to say, I was at both the parade and the BBQ afterwards, and the turnout at both was great. There were alot of people along the parade that were eager to shake Dan's hand, and at the BBQ he was constantly surrounded by people wanting to talk to him.
Dan is the real deal and is exactly the kind of candidate that the Democratic party needs.
Wow Ellen Beth looks like fun...Dan Seals looks like he can throw a hell of a party; cough, cough...sarcasm. I mean seriously I was just waiting for a pic with Dan with a bunch of a-listers. C'mon shouldn't the Red Eye, Chicago Social, and Scene magazine be there just snapping up photos of the charm and charisma that is Dan Seals; cough, cough...sarcasm.
