UPDATE: Here's the cite for Hawkeye's comment. Kirk and his friends disrupted the memorial service for Tom Lantos. Lantos was the only member of Congress to have survived the Holocaust (the very same holocaust that Mark Kirk loves to invoke when pushing for the fear vote from Jews). Lantos was also part of the Hungarian resistance movement. republican blogs are admitting the disruption, but in the language of abusive spouses everywhere, said the Democrats "made them do it."
*****************
From what I was able to find out it's all about holding Bolten and Miers in contempt for failing to respond to congressional subpoenas for information on the 2006-2007 firings and their inability to get House Democrats to give up on the Constitution and Democracy by reauthorizing the fake Protect America Act with telecom immunity.
If they cannot get their way, they'll use dirty tactics every time. They cry democracy, but clearly don't believe in it. Good let the PAA lapse and go into the bowels of dark history where it belongs.
As for Boehner and his cabal, I say, good again, lock the door and be rid of them.
What did Mark Kirk accomplish today? He gave a standing ovation for 1000 years of war and the fake maverick who's good with torture if it helps his campaign. No reason to expect otherwise.

In an effort to save their political butts & careers, some repubs were sent back into the chambers to vote because they realized that there weren't enough of them there to sufficiently second a demand for a recorded vote for passage.
Kirk was one of those & (what a surprise...) voted "Nay."
By walking out, Kirk was complicit in disrupting the memorial service for Rep. Tom Lantos, the only Holocaust survivor in Congress.
Classy move, Kirk. That ought to play well here in our district -- along with his disrespect for the rule of law.
Thanks for the update!
I want to correct one slight mis-statement. The repubs did not walk out during the memorial service. Instead, they demanded a procedural vote on the floor, forcing members to leave the memorial service early, even while dignitaries (including Elie Wiesel) were giving their tributes to Rep. Lantos. No votes were scheduled during the memorial; the vote called was entirely procedural.
In any case, Kirk was a part of it.
Seems both sides were at fault here. From the Crypt on Politico:
http://www.politico.com/blogs/thecrypt/0208/House_in_chaos_GOP_calls_vote_during_Lantos_funeral.html
UPDATE: Minority Leader John Boehner's spokesman Michael Steel has put out a statement blaming Democrats for the chaos during Lantos' service.
Democrats angrily denounced the GOP as insensitive for calling a "motion to adjourn" — essentially a dilatory tactic — while dignitaries were still giving tributes to Lantos, a Holocaust survivor who was chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee. But Republican aides shot back quickly, saying it was Democrats who broke an agreement to keep the House in recess during the memorial service.
To some extent, it appears both sides are at fault, but the recriminations have been fast and furious.
Regardless of who was at fault for the memorial service disruption, how can Kirk justify his "no" vote on the contempt resolutions.
All Democrats want is to hear what Miers and Bolton have to say. Doesn't Kirk want to know what they know?
Kirk's vote shows yet again that he is just a Bush Republican to the core.
I want a Congressman who will investigate when Bush dismisses perfectly qualified people and installs political cronies as federal prosecutors, possibly to prosecute his political enemies.
Kirk, again, just isn't interested in finding out about what happened.
That's not good enough for me. We need a new Congressman.
Kirk, like his fellow banana-republicans in Congress and in the Bush Administration, does nothing not part of his political agenda. There's no governing, no custodianship of our Constitution, no respect for the American people or everything that's made us Americans for all these years. Just whatever he can do to warmonger and fearmonger for dollars and political power. He's done nothing to make it clear he stands for our country, so he should be retired. Even worse is his friend McCain who has proven he'll do anything to become president including torture, even though his former stand against torture was supposed to be his big stand for morality. Isn't it about time someone governs for the people of the United States and not just baiting hate and fear for votes?
Speaking of the holocaust... Has Dan Seals ever seen any of the concentration camps? What is his knowledge of the history of the Jewish people? There's only so much one can learn by attending JCC summer camp.

If you really want to know Dan's views on Israel, check them out for yourself:

issues/israel.php
As our Congressman, Dan would be a very strong defender of Israel.
Shame on anon 1:33 AM.
I did not mention Israel once. Your anti-semitism shows in your posting.
I never mentioned israel once. I am so disgusted. Shame on you.
9:56 PM and 7:34 AM save your fake Kirk campaign driven indignation for republican blogs. Your views basically boil down to an idea that there is no such thing as basic human understanding which is of course nonsense. If your thoughts have any truth to them, why would Mark Kirk be able to understand any more than Dan? Kirk is a white, Christian male who has never been on the receiving side of discrimination nor have any of his ancestors. His hometown of Kenilworth was restricted until the Civil Rights Act of 1964 made the restrictions illegal and unenforceable. There is no historic evidence that the white Christian residents of Kenilworth were exactly marching in the streets of Kenilworth to open their lands to minorities before the Federal Law forced them.
More interesting are the results of a study done after the showing on television several years ago of a mini-series about the Holocaust, I think it was War and Rememberance. As it turned out, according to the study, African-American children were the most affected by the series than any other group. Why? The study said it was because they understood what discrimination was through their own lives and their parents, knew their ancestors had been slaves and imagined all the horror and dependency that must have come with that, and felt the Holocaust was even worse than slavery because the Nazis were systematically murdering the people in the camps. The thought that such race murders really occurred scared the children for their own lives and futures. I'll try to get my hands on a copy of that study. I remembered it because the results were so stunning.
Dear anon. 7:34am:
It's difficult to understand how the post to which you refer shows "anti-semitism." Is that really what you wanted to say? Using that term to describe that post sounds pretty irrational to me.
If you really read Dan Seals' issue page on Israel, you will find, in addition to an excellent understanding of the current issues facing Israel, that Dan has a strong knowledge of and interest in the history of the Jewish people in America.
anon 10:20
You're still talking about Israel.
why?
this whole thing is meshuganah if you ask me.
anon. 10:13pm,
I'm talking about Israel because a previous post displayed ignorance about Dan Seals' expertise on the subject.
Dan's website has a very reasoned, thoughtful issue page on this topic. I urge everyone who hasn't seen it to read it.
When you ask what Dan knows about the history of the Jewish people, why would that not include Israel? Between that and the ridiculous implication that one has to see a concentration camp to understand the holocaust, anon 9:56 is sounding a bit silly.
Somebody needs to make an issue of Kirk's no votes because that is not what we are paying for.
