Technical Writers Have Kirk's Number
Kirk's campaign issue of Second Life has come to the attention of technical writers. Here's an article from ZDNet Education. The article quotes another site, ars technica:
ZDNet and ars technica have Kirk's number and they don't even go into his 7+ year history of voting against families: against health care, for job offshoring, for oil companies, for bailing out his finance company and building commpany campaign contributors, but against at risk homeowners. If you haven't already read it, pop on over to the Tenth Dems May Newsletter and on page 7 you'll see Mark Kraemer's description of Kirk's vote against homeowners, his vote against the Mortgage Reform and Anti-Predatory Lending Act (MRA) of 2007.
Kirk's fooling no one with this diversion about Second Life. Why doesn't he worry about our first and real lives?
First up, Kirk is running for reelection in a hotly-contested district, and using technology as a scare tactic to get parents on your side is an easy move.

1 Comments:
Another Republican Congressman who frequently used scare tatics about the dangers to children of new technology was Mark Foley of Florida.
I find it odd that Mark Kirk is telling his staff to spend time trolling seedy chat rooms under the guise of protecting children.
Congressman Foley, no doubt, made the same case to the voters of his district.
