Palin and Kirk Always Running, Never Governing

UPDATE UPDATE: The LA Time is reporting that the FBI in Alaska is denying an investigation. That being the case, it's interesting that she's set up a defense fund and even more interesting that it suggests that it's a fund to protect the state. Blagojevich is starting to look not all that awful, isn't he?

UPDATE: While Democat suggested that Sarah Palin quit to rescue us from further Michael Jackson coverage, it was always more likely that there was something going on and some reliable sources are saying what is going on are future federal embezzlement charges having to do with those building scandals about all those contractor buddies who helped the "first dude" build their house. Apparently, the exact same materials used to build the Wasilla sports center were also used to build the house.

I have no doubt that there is a lot more going on here than we now know about Palin's resignation as Alaska Governor. However, if you take her at her word, it's also pretty bad. Sarah Palin said was that she felt her staying on as Governor of Alaska would be a waste of time and money because she does not intend to seek reelection. It seems what she's saying is that the actual job of governing the state of Alaska is not worth anything in and of itself. It's the running that's important and not the governing. That has been my biggest complaint about politicians in general and republican politicians in particular. They never govern. They are always running. Every vote, every decision, every speech, every comment has absolutely nothing to do with serving the country or doing the job, but their election or re-election chances. That's what bugs me about Kirk and apparently what has his base up in arms. His votes are calculated to the next election and do not represent his district.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I completely agree 100%. AmericaBlog is saying that Andrea Mitchell has it that Sarah has said she's completely done with politics. Makes me wonder what the scandal is . . .

The idea put forth by Palin is that she decided not to run for re-election, which makes her a lame-duck Governor. Somehow, it is against the rules for lame-ducks to finish their term.

My view is that Palin doesn't want to be removed from office like Stevens was and Sanford may be. When you have a list of ethics investigations of your actions and the first one didn't go well, despite the fact that most of the ethics boards report to you, you learn to see some writing on the wall.

As far as Kirk is concerned, how is it that the compassionate Independent is working so hard to appease the GOP base? This weakens his independent argument. I'll tell you one thing, he's no Bernie Sanders.
